Dangerous Money Lies We Tell Ourselves
In life and business, there are two dangerous money lies I've seen posted online:
I have enough money, so I don’t have to manage it.
There will be more money tomorrow.
Guess what -> both of those stories are dangerous to tell ourselves! These stories don't make us good stewards of our current resources, and mentally has us living in a futuristic world while ignoring our financial responsibility today.
If you're not managing your money: You don't actually know how much is going in or out of your account. Even if you think you're going to win the lottery today, statistically most people who win the lottery run out of money quickly... no money management = harder to keep track of your money. So take time to create a spending plan or budget that works with the resources you already have access to!
There will be more money tomorrow: That's not being a good steward of the resources you have today. It's not creating good habits, and you're delaying the things you need to do for the things you want to do. It's a bad habit, and you are responsible for your today and your future. No one is coming to save you, so it's on you to save yourself (financially speaking), plan for retirement and set yourself up for long-term success. Consider setting shorter term goals, that align with your long-term financial needs!
Final thoughts to take action:
What can I do today with my money to make my tomorrow better?
If all my money was gone tomorrow, would I be OK?
