3 Steps to Rock your Email Inbox and Save your Sanity!
It's no secret I love achieving Inbox 0, and hitting that magic trick in gmail makes my life even sweeter!
I use a few simple steps to stay organized for myself, and they're tips you can implement today for extra sanity!
Folders and Labels - This is my saving grace in gmail. I can quickly identify project markers, search specific folders for key words and just keep myself digitally sane. Everything in its place makes that email from 8 months ago way easier to find!
Assign Email Address to Labels - Once a client is booked or if you get newsletters that are relevant, you can setup auto labels! Whaaat! Yes - why wouldn't you take advantage of this in your email organization? I assign the email address to the correct label once, and voila! Every time a new email comes in, it's automatically tagged to the correct label. It also means I can quickly archive the email once I complete the task!
Color Coding - I'm a visual person, so when I'm faced with a large group of emails to respond to I use colors to pull my eye to what needs to be handled first (i.e. client work) with key colors and triggers that I use to keep myself on track.
Still feeling overwhelmed? It's OK - set a 15 minute timer and clear out the stuff that doesn't need your attention! Delete that newsletter you're not going to read. Start with the oldest stuff, and be ruthless! Will you need that email later? Then label and archive it. Make it easy to find in a pinch, but not something cluttering up your inbox!
